Exceptions and Oddities

The only notable oddity is one that was also present on some of the VOY duty jumpsuits and DS9/NEM duty jumpsuits: vented sleeves which closed via hook-and-loop tape ("Velcro").

We covered the matter thoroughly in those two analyses/tutorials, so we'll simply refer you to those and say here that this feature was inconsistently incorporated to some of the DS9/NEM cadet jumpsuits in "Valiant."

For your convenience, on our pattern, we have included the options to construct "regular" or vented sleeves, but we use and recommend a traditional sleeve vent construction method!

NOTE: We included these in our "Exceptions and Oddities" section rather than in our construction analysis because, while the sleeve vents were common in (pre-Nemesis) later years, they weren't universally incorporated into the jumpsuits (see above) and, as noted in our DS9/NEM duty jumpsuit analysis/tutorial, they were ultimately eliminated in the finalized versions of the aforementioned duty jumpsuits, so we see them more as an "optional feature" than an actual, established construction standard.
